About This Class
Our innovative program introduces MAGIC, the Michigan Appropriateness Guide for Intravenous Catheters. This pioneering guide validated device indication and established guidelines for the optimal use of PICCs and other peripheral and central devices.
The goal of MAGIC was to apply evidence for the selection of a peripheral versus a central device. By establishing a clear direction for the selection of a peripheral or central catheter, risk is reduced by only selecting central catheters when there is a specific indication for these higher risk devices.
