The Pediatric Insertion Training class is designed to train the nurse or physician for the insertion of pediatric PICCs.

Adding ultrasound guidance to an existing PICC program increases the rate of successful insertions to an average of greater than 90%. This short program is for the beginner user and covers the basics of the ultrasound.

This program teaches techniques that increase insertion success rates using ultrasound guidance for PICC insertions.

Learning to use ultrasound to aid critical thinking for vein selection is the essence of this program. In this course we focus on ultrasound use for PICC placement at the bedside, specifically vessel identification and visualization to aid needle access.

Many hospitals have added portable ultrasound units to their IV team's arsenal of tools for locating veins. Inserting PICCs with Ultrasound includes an insertion, patient education and dressing on the completed insertion. We recommend completing this course in conjunction with the Basic PICC Qualification Training Program

Pathways to Expert - The Certified PICC Ultrasound Inserter (CPUI) credentials (PICC Certification Program) provide the vascular access clinician validation of a higher level of knowledge and practice in the field of PICC placement.
